A ribbon-cutting ceremony projected Rome towards the return to normality and gives citizens the opportunity to start meeting again, listen to music in public events, share spaces and fun, cheer on Italy together with friends in front of giant screens, in full compliance with the Covid rules and and protocols.
UEFA Festival opened and will host fans every day, from morning to late evening, giving them the opportunity to live EURO 2020 in a great atmosphere. To cut the ribbon, in the wonderful setting of Piazza del Popolo, the Mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi, together with the Roma Capitale Commissioner for UEFA EURO 2020 Daniele Frongia, the President of the Italian Football Federation Gabriele Gravina and the CEO of UEFA Events SA Martin Kallen.
After the morning opening, music, shows and colors played from stage, with the citizens who return to breathe the atmosphere of the life after months of lockdown. From today until July 11, Piazza del Popolo will host a rich and articulated schedule of events: sport, music, culture and social initiatives. The schedule will offer spectators some big Italian singers, such as Irene Grandi and Annalisa.
A series of UEFA images will be projected on the giant screens, tracing the history of football and recounting the memorable institutional initiatives. The Culture Department of Roma Capitale and the Capitoline Libraries will take turns to guarantee spectators moments aimed at reading, reflecting and discovering our historical and artistic heritage. The stage will host excellences such as the Opera Theater Dance School, the Stornello del Rap show, and the Santa Cecilia orchestra. During the European Music Day, June 21, the Roman Classic Jazz Heritage, the Junta Escondida and numerous artists will perform in live performances.
Corriere Dello Sport-Stadio and Dimensione Suono Roma are the local media supporter: Dimensione Suono Roma will launch DJ sets from the stage. A main role also for social initiatives with events organized by the team of refugees Liberi Nantes and the Pigneto Film Festival project. There will be also tournaments on the 3 vs 3 football pitches aimed at women's football and the youth projects of the FIGC.
